Hi !
I thought I should add a little background on how an older guy ends up releasing his 1st album now for anyone who's curious or interested .
Well the abbreviated version is that in my 20's I was based in Hamburg , Germany ( yes , where one of my musical heroes The Beatles kicked off ) and there I was a co-writer and lyricist with a couple of acts , which was a lot of fun including sell out shows in Hamburg , an 18,000 festival show in Moscow and ALMOST getting signed by Polydor . After this , aged 29 , I returned home to Scotland and focused on raising my kids and an engineering career , becoming basically a " bedroom songwriter " , and had a lot of fun doing this too !
So into my 40's and I had accumulated a bunch of songs so decided to record them for posterity's sake nothing more which , rather surprisingly to me , led to live shows and tv/ radio stuff and some cool adventures playing in South Africa , Germany , Portugal & Estonia amongst others , as well as opening for great acts like Glenn Tilbrook , Nick Harper , Jon Gomm and Bob Cheevers . It was through Bob that led me to Austin , Texas to record PYS , which is my first proper release , although I did record 3 eps " Dysfunctional But Happy " , " Falling & Landing " and " Upwards & Onwards " which I sold mainly at gigs but will post some tracks on here from time to time .
So that's how I got here folks , the album is part of promo campaign just started run by https://www.birnamcd.com/ which has garnered some radio play and I'm told press reviews coming up but it's early days on that score .
So I'll keep it short ( mainly as I have a limited attention span myself ) and post some more ramblings soon in the future about influences , inspiration sources and blueberry muffins .
Peace to all ...
Mike
